Fake degree case: Court rejects Jitendra Singh Tomar’s bail plea

Delhi court on 14 July dismissed the bail plea of Aam Aadmi Party MLA Jitender Singh Tomar, who is accused in a fake degree case.

Additional chief metropolitan magistrate Tarun Yogesh, had remanded Tomar to judicial custody after the Delhi Police said the investigation in the case was in progress.

Earlier, the court had sent Tomar to 14 days judicial custody till July 20.

The Delhi Police was allowed to take Tomar’s specimen signature in the presence of a magistrate to match the samples with the new documents recovered from UP and Bihar varsities.

Tomar was arrested on June 9 following an investigation into the complaint by Bar Council of Delhi that he had obtained a fake law degree from the Bihar college.

An FIR was lodged against Tomar on June 8 at Hauz Khas police station and he was booked for alleged offences of cheating, forgery, using forged documents as genuine, forgery with intent to cheat and criminal conspiracy under the Indian Penal Code.
