On 15 August, 2015, Bollywood classic “Sholay” would turn 40 on this year’s Independence day. The film was released in 1975. According to Gabbar is Back star, to remake the classic movie starring Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Hema Malini and Jaya Badhuri would generally be a bad idea. He feels he would never be able to reprise any character from the Ramesh Sippy directorial.
The Khiladi star was interacting with media persons, during a press conference, to promote his upcoming film “Brothers”. He was accompanied by actors Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez. When asked if he would be a part of a “Sholay” remake, he replied, “‘Sholay’ cannot be remade. It would be injustice, so don’t even think about it. And if I am asked to play a role in the remake, it’s impossible. The way it has been made, it would be injustice to portray (the characters) the same way.”
Sidharth Malhotra also said, “I love the star cast, the scenes… it is a film which has lived for 40 years and even when we watch it today, we thoroughly enjoy it.” Brothers, the official Bollywood remake of the 2011 Hollywood film “Warrior” is directed by Karan Malhotra. The movie, which is releasing on Friday, also features actors Shefali Shah and Jackie Shroff in supporting roles.
