The Shiv Sena, on 8 October, said, other than blaming former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for inflation, the present state governments and the Centre too have failed to check the same, even after one year.

Coming down heavily on the BJP, the Sena asked, “Did people vote new governments at Maharashtra and at the Centre to let inflation continue to burden the people? Will the prices of basic commodities keep on rising. What about the country’s economy?” the Sena asked in an editorial, in its mouthpiece, ‘Saamana’.

“It is easy to blame former PM Manmohan Singh for inflation during the UPA rule. It has become a hobby for people to make fun of Manmohan Singh. But now the government has changed. Though one year has passed, the new government has failed to create magic to dispel inflation,” said the Sena.

It is the second time in recent days, that the Sena has defended Manmohan Singh. It had earlier said PV Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh’s contributions towards bolstering India’s economy can’t be forgotten.

“Though the PM is popular in foreign countries, people such as Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh have laid the foundation of India’s economic progress. How can we forget their contribution?” asked the Sena.
