Yakub Memon, the 1993 Mumbai blasts convict, has moved Supreme Court, seeking to quash the death warrant against him by the TADA court.

Yakub Memon’s petition has claimed that the TADA court could not have issued the warrant when his curative petition was already pending before the Supreme Court.

The petition says that the death warrant issued for his hanging on July 30 was against the principles of natural justice and due process of law were not followed. The top court had rejected Yakub’s curative petition on Tuesday.

Memon was found guilty of planning and financing the Mumbai serial blast. Nearly 260 people were killed in the attack. Yakub Memon is the lone convict whose death sentence was upheld by the Supreme Court. President Pranab Mukherjee had rejected his mercy petition in May 2014.
