Mohali resident, Ekam Singh Dhillon, 40 was murdered by his wife Seerat with the help of her brother and his friend who later stuffed his body into a suitcase. She shot her husband with her licensed 9mm pistol at their house in Mohali.

The incident came to light on March 19. While Seerat and another woman were loading the suitcase in their BMW car, they sought help from an auto rickshaw driver as the suitcase was too heavy. The auto driver became suspicious when he noticed blood on his hands. He sped away immediately and informed the PCR vehicle nearby. The accused were later arrested.
Police have booked the woman, her mother, brother and two other relatives under various sections of IPC. “A case of murder has been registered against Seerat Kaur, her mother Jaswinder Kaur and brother Vinay Pratap Brar on a statement from the deceased’s brother Darshan Singh,” said Mataur SHO Baljinder Singh Pannu .
“She has confessed to the crime and says that she and the victim had a strained relationship,” said SAS Nagar SSP Kuldeep Chahal.
Seerat, the mother of two – an 11-year-old son and a five-year-old daughter is the niece of a former Congress MLA from Sardulgarh.
