The incident that took place in Dhaneda village, Muzaffarnagar, has sent shockwaves across Uttar Pradesh. All the accused were apprehended as soon as the matter came to light.
The woman had eloped twice with her 32-year-old lover, who is already a father of three children, for which the family had filed an abduction complaint against her lover. But he was let off by the court after the woman gave a statement in favour of him, saying she eloped with him with her own consent.
When the complaint was filed once again by the woman’s family, she approached the Allahabad High Court on November 2 to allege that she was gang-raped by Haakim (her father), Sabir (brother), Sameen and Aashu (uncles) at a nursing home and was even forced to miscarry.
The High Court, on November 18, ordered registration of a FIR against the four accused upon which they were arrested on November 27. The accused have been booked under IPC Sections 376D (gang-rape) and 313 (causing miscarriage without woman’s consent), among others.
The victim’s mother has claimed that Gayasuddin, her daughter’s lover, has influenced her to make the accusations against her own family.
