Congress leader and lawyer Kapil Sibal began his defense of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case, by asking, “Who is Subramanian Swamy?”

Addressing newsmen, Sibal said Subramanian Swamy has BJP’s power of attorney to persecute and prosecute Congress. He is his master’s voice.

For the past one year, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been targeting several Congress leaders, he said.

By equating the action against Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh with the court summons to Gandhis in the National Herald case, he said, Sachin Plot and Shankar Singh Vaghela and others are some of the leaders who have been targeted by the BJP.

“This is nothing but political vendetta against the Congress by the ruling party. So should the Congress fight National Herald case only legally and not politically?” he asked.

The BJP is trying to distract the people’s attention from the ills that have befallen the country through National Herald case, asked Sibal.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which was called a caged parrot, has become a captive parrot after Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power, said Sibal.

Without going into legalese, Sibal said the case has no basis at all. How can giving a loan to another be a criminal act? Should not a petition be filed in court asking the BJP how it spends its money?
