VVIP choppers case: CBI may quiz Manmohan Singh, others

manmohan-singh1The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) may question former PM Manmohan Singh and others in the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper deal case.

The CBI may also question former PM’s secretary TKA Nair and former National Security Adviser MK Narayanan, along with the former PM.

Former CBI director Ranjit Sinha and former CBI special director Salim Ali are also likely to be quizzed in the 2013 VVIP chopper deal.

Earlier, statements of three former Governors, MK Narayanan of West Bengal, BV Wanchoo of Goa and ESL Narasimhan of Andhra Pradesh were recorded by the CBI in the case.

It may be noted that former IAF chief SP Tyagi was arrested last week for allegedly influencing the Rs 3,600-crore deal in favour of AgustaWestland. In turn, he accused the former PM by saying that he knew the changes in tender specifications for buying the AugustaWestland choppers.

The former IAF chief, arrested along with his cousin Sanjiv alias Julie Tyagi and lawyer Gautam Khaitan, has not admitted to any guilt. All three are in CBI custody till December 14. It was learnt that Khaitan allegedly facilitated the movement of bribes through a slew of firms.
