Vidya Balan, whom we last saw as the ingenious eponymous detective in “Bobby Jasoos” (2014), seems geared up to grace the small screen, this time as a curious talk show host. As per the grapevine the show will be on the lines of the cult “The Oprah Winfrey Show”. It is being funded by a Hollywood studio and is planned to set the US television network on fire.
Balan is said to have completed the shoot for “Hamari Adhuri Kahaani” opposite Emraan Hashmi and directed by Mohit Suri. She was considering two scripts—both biopics—one on the life and times of the Bengali silver screen prima donna Suchitra Sen who passed away last year, and the other on the firebrand former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto whose life was cut short in 2007.
But now reports of the talk show appear to suggest she will not take up either project as the talk show will block her dates for six months. The project is allegedly being styled on a big scale and will be a trailblazer for Indian TV content to ape. Balan who had begun her acting career in 1995 with the comedy TV series of ‘Hum Paanch’ is considered an accessible and warm star by the media and the industry. If anyone has to emulate the warmth and empathy of Oprah in India, who better than our very own Vidya?
