After having waited months for a big, gorgeous movie, we are now going to be hit by Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. In every second movie the ladies will assault us with their special charms. And while we wait we are to be assaulted by the anxious queries of the many concerned parties who want to know whether Saif Ali Khan objects to Kareena’s swimsuit and whether Salman Khan objects to Katrina’s career choices. Oh for the days when only movies no one cared about were playing in the multiplexes. Detective Nani, anyone?

Rumours say SRK will
soon make strange public

Shah Rukh Khan doing Kaun Banega Crorepati was about tolerable. The thought of Khan in a new Yash Chopra soap opera is bizarre but intriguing, we admit. Can that little screen hold the glory that is Khan? And we all have heard the stories of the billionaires who can afford to have Khans dance at their weddings. Even that thought had a louche and exciting quality. But now Shah Rukh Khan, the kind of star our children will not believe existed, is going to be a quiz master at a B-school quiz! Rumour has it that Khan is going to be the quizmaster at IIPM’s business and marketing quiz for the next three years. “Everything we do at IIPM is grand, distinct, pioneering and above all else global,” says Arindam Chaudhuri.

Imran Khan may or may not have turned down a role in Deepa Mehta’s adaptation of Midnight’s Children (she says yes, he says no). But we can look forward to a bookmeets- screen tempest when Danny Boyle adapts Suketu Mehta‘s Maximum City.Oh what fun we will have. In the meanwhile Mehta is writing a book on the New York immigrant experience.

Sheetal Mafatlal, everyone knows, is in jail on charges of carrying undeclared jewellery worth over Rs 50 lakhs through customs. Speculation is rife about which of her family members shopped her in. Meanwhile, in Byculla jail, Mafatlal is enjoying a menu that bears eerie resemblance to the ghar ka khana that Page 3 celebrities claim to love. While on the subject of Page 3, Byculla jail seems to host quite the cream of female crime: Kannada actor Maria Susairaj and Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur.
