Muzaffarnagar, Jun 25 (PTI): At least 15 bodies were found floating in Ganga in different districts of Uttar Pradesh including Muzaffarnagar, Bulandshahr and Bijnore, a senior official said today.
The district authorities have recovered the bodies and sent them for postmortem, Surinder Kumar Singh, District Magistrate said here.
Four bodies coming from flood affected Uttarakhand were recovered in Muzaffarnagar, five in Bijnore and six bodies in Bulandshahr, he said.
Meanwhile heavy rains have been reported in the district.
Five bodies swept away in the Uttarakhand flash floods were today recovered from Ganga river in Muzaffarnagar district.
“Five more bodies of Uttarakhand rain tragedy victims have been found in the river in Muzaffarnagar district,” IG (Crime) Ashish Gupta said.
Yesterday, 11 bodies of Uttarakhand flood victims were found in different rivers in Bijnor and Bulandshahr districts.
With this, a total of 16 bodies have so far been recovered from various rivers flowing through Uttar Pradesh.
There are 1,409 persons missing from the state as per the information received in the control room set up by the Home and Relief Commissioner Office.
Meanwhile, Revenue Minister Ambika Chowdhury visited at the Relief Commissioner’s office where control room has been set up, and took stock of the arrangements.
The minister directed the officials to improve their functioning.
