Troubles for arrested former Law minister Jitender Singh Tomar, don’t seem to be ending anytime soon. Delhi police has sought for 4-day custody of 49-year old Trinagar MLA, over the fake degree row. Few days back, the Delhi Police accused Tomar of ‘not cooperating’ with the probe. So far, the police custody has proved fruitful in the case. During the physical verification in Faizabad (UP), Tomar failed to recognise his classrooms, teachers and laboratory. Also, the Awadh University has reiterated its version that the former ministers certificate related to B.Sc. Degree are ‘completely fake’.
Taking a cue from the development of events, the Aam Aadmi Party has gone on the backfoot. In order to save face in public, AAP has referred Tomar’s matter to the internal lokpal. Speaking to TEHELKA, AAP spokesperson Ashutosh said, “Initially we found his certificates to be true. As we are not an investigation agency, hence, expecting to deliver like one will be little too unfair.” Also, he confirmed that Tomar is likely to get ousted from the party. “We have referred his matter to the internal lokpal and expect negative results.” This might prove to be the final blow for Tomar, who so far had been garnering support from fellow party-men and AAP volunteers.
Referring to controversies clouding the AAP MLAs one after the other, Ashutosh told TEHELKA, that, “it is frustration of the BJP and Congress who failed to deliver in assembly elections. They are fabricating matter against the AAP leaders.”
