In an attempt to reach out to Muslims, BJP published pamphlets in Urdu about achievements of the Narendra Modi government, as part of the party’s ongoing ‘Maha Sampark Abhiyan’.
The four-page booklets, which were received at the party’s UP state headquarters in Lucknow and in some districts of the state on Saturday, have a photograph of Narendra Modi with a message ‘Saal Ek, Shuruaat Anek’ (One Year, Many Initiatives) on the first page. The booklet highlights schemes such as “Upgrading Skills and Training in Traditional Arts/Crafts for Development” (USTAD), launched from the PM’s constituency Varanasi for weavers and other artisans. Most people engaged in weaving belong to the Muslim community.
BJP leaders said Urdu pamphlets have also been sent to other states like Jammu and Kashmir, West Bengal, Telangana and Assam.
The pamphlets are also to be printed and distributed in regional languages like Punjabi, Malayalam, Telugu, Bengali and Gujarati, besides in Hindi and English.
