Three terrorists were killed in retaliatory fire by security forces when an army camp was attacked on early October 6 morning in Kupwara district of north Kashmir.

The terrorists attack was on two posts of 30 Rashtriya Rifles and very near to its headquarters in Handwara.

The army jawans later conducted a thorough search operation to flush out more terrorists.

No casualties have been reported in the stand-off between the terrorists and the army, which lasted for as much as five hours.

During combing operations, the security personnel recovered maps, metric sheets, radio sets, arms and ammunition with Pakistani markings and other communication devices.

As per media reports, the security forces could thwart the terrorists’ attack thanks to their alertness.

The attack comes amidst escalating tensions between India and Pakistan after the Uri terror attack, which claimed the lives of 19 army jawans.
