It has come to light on November 4 that around 12 minor tribal girl students were raped by their teachers and headmaster. The victims, aged between 12 an 14 years, were studying in a private boarding school, Ninadhi Ashran School, in Bhuldhana district of Maharashtra.
Police said all the 12 girls have been sent to a hospital in Akola district. The relatives of the girls have filed a police complaint in the Khamgaon police station in Buldhana district. Three of the 12 girl students are pregnant.
According to media reports, the gory act came to light when three of the 12 girls returned home to Halkheda village in Jalgaon district. The incident took place before Diwali. In all , 10 teachers have been accused of which seven have been arrested.
The accused in the rape cases are local teachers, headmaster, peons and other staffers. The police suspect the 12 tribal minors were raped though the numbers could be much more.
Meanwhile, Chitra Wagh, Nationalist Congress Party, Women’s Wing president, condemned the incident and demanded the resignation of Maharashtra’s Women and Child Minister Pankaja Munde and Tribal Minister Vishnu Savara stating that law and order situation has failed. The ministers should take moral responsibility and resign, she added.
