Sushma Swaraj, Israel visit, Palestine visit, External Affairs MinisterExternal Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on November 16 tweeted that she was undergoing treatment for kidney failure. The announcement shed light on Swaraj’s health issues, even as it put to rest months of speculation.

‘I am in AIIMS because of kidney failure. At present, I am on dialysis. I am undergoing tests for a kidney transplant. Lord Krishna will bless,’ tweeted Swaraj.

According to media reports, Swaraj’s condition is stable. Her history of chronic diabetes has affected her kidney functioning. She is presently on dialysis. She was admitted to AIIMS on November 7 and is being monitored by a team of doctors.

Swaraj is admitted at the cardio-neuro centre under the supervision of Balram Airan, chief of the Cardio Thoracic Centre.

Suffering from diabetes from the past 20 years, Swaraj, 64, was admitted to AIIMS in April also when she underwent treatment for pneumonia and other issues.

In her more than two year tenure, Swaraj had avoided media interviews, but she held annual press conferences. However, the 2016 annual press conference was delayed probably due to her ill health.

Following her post, people tweeted praying for her speedy recovery.
