In the wake of the murder of a 19-year-old girl in Anand Parbat area, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal will today meet the Police Commissioner BS Bassi to discuss law and orders in the city. The Delhi CM expresses shock over the incident, said the incident is an example of Delhi police’s inefficiency and the reason why AAP government should be in charge of the police.
“Delhi Police is under the Centre. The Prime Minister should either act or transfer Delhi Police’s command to the Delhi Government,” Kejriwal said.
Mr Bassi, speaking to reporters, said he will try to dispel “misconceptions” about the functioning of Delhi Police in the meeting. “I will definitely go and meet him and we will exchange our thoughts. There is a possibility of him telling us something useful and maybe I will be able to share something informative about policing because I have been working for 38 years in the department,” Bassi said.
Kejriwal and duputy CM Manish Sisodia on Saturday, had visited the teenage girl’s home, where people told them that there is no police patrolling in the area and apparently some police personnel were also involved in the incident. He announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the family and slammed the Delhi police- which is under the Center.
