Snow falls over Tokyo for the first time in 54 years


Snow TokyoTokyo on November 24 was hit by its first snowfall in 54 years. This is surprising because the Japanese capital is accustomed to earthquakes than snow.

The last time snow fell over Tokyo was during the time of stylish former United States President John F Kennedy.

As per Japanese Meteorological Agency, as much as 2 cm of snow was predicted for the central Tokyo by the time the snow fall stops, which is likely by early afternoon, according to reports.

The snow that began as sleet around dawn, was sparked by an unusual cold front spreading over the Tokyo area that sent temperatures down to near zero C (32 F).

Average temperatures at this time of year are highs of 14 C (57 F) and rose as far as 20 C (68 F) as recently as Sunday.
