In a take on the shoe hurled at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal during a press conference in April, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on September 26 similarly faced the anger of a localite in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur during a road show.
However, the shoe thrown at the Congress vice-president missed its mark. The man who hurled the shoe has been identified as a journalist, Hari Om Mishra. The police have immediately arrested the scribe—who claimed that he came to cover Congress road shoe.
Gandhi has been touring the state campaigning for the Congress in the run up to the UP Assemby polls in a bid to revive the grand old party, from September 13.
It may be mentioned that shoe attacks have become common place of late. But the many people have raised eyebrows over the shoe attack on Gandhi, given his security detail contains the elite SPG.
