The Shiv Sena party has been irked by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s talks with France over the Nuclear power plant in Jaitapur. IF completed, the Jaitapur nuclear pant would be the largest in the world.
Leader Uddhav Thackeray expressed anger after the talks on Friday, which saw the sealing of 17 agreements.
Both France and India urged for early conclusion of techno-commercial discussions on the proposal for construction of six 1650 Mwe nuclear power plants at Jaitapur, with due consideration to project viability and in the framework of an ambitious partnership for large and critical components, the joint statement said
Clean energy has been a key agenda in Modi’s vision of the future. This was made clear by the focus the nuclear talks, and the Jaitapur program in particular, was give during the meetings.
The Shiv Sena have been opposing the construction of the nuclear power plant, saying that the project is unsafe.
