Amidst heightening tensions between India and Pakistan following the Uri terror attack, Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) on September 23 asked Pakistan actors and artists to leave India immediately.
According to media reports, MNS’ Chitrapat Karamchari Sena chief Amey Khopkar said, “We gave them 48-hour deadline to leave India or we will push them out. Along with the Pakistani actors, we will also beat up whichever producer or director is with them.”
This is not the first time Khopkar has issued such threats. He had issued a similar threat to AIB comedian Tanmay Bhat during the Sachin Tendulkar-Lata Mangeshkar Snapchat row.
There were also instances when his party and its chief Raj Thackeray had distanced themselves from his remarks.
Jumping into burning cauldron, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said, “When we are talking about banning them (Pakistanis) globally, then why continue talks with them? As a nation, we should snap all ties with Pakistan.” The neighbouring country is an adda (haven) of terrorists and, hence, India should shouldn’t have any ties with it, he added.
