Update: A militant and an army personnel has been killed in the encounter.
A heavy exchange of fire broke out between security personnel and suspected militants in north Kashmir’s Rafiabad area of Baramulla district. Two militants are reportedly holed up inside a residential house at Ladura , around 55 km away from state’s summer capital, Srinagar.
According to reports, the suspected militants fired at a combined party of Army and police when it launched a search operation in the early morning. The operation was launched after security forces received an input about the presence of militants in the village.
Last week, four militants of Pakistan-origin were killed and one terrorist, Sajad Ahmad, was capture alive from Rafiabad, after a long gun battle. He was the second Pakistani terrorist to be captured in Jammu and Kashmir this month.
