Aam Aadmi Party MP Bhagwant Mann, who was not allowed to attend the Lok Sabha for the remainder of the Monsoon Session, has been told to stay away from Parliament until nine-member panel investigates into the MP’s security-breach video.
The committee is likely to submit its report to the Speaker by August 3.
Mann last week filmed a video of his journey from his home to Parliament House and shared it on social media. The video, showing high-security areas had threatened the security of Parliament, said Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.
Following a call for action against the upstart MP, Mahajan summoned and rebuked him. Stating that he had committed a mistake involuntarily, Mann told the Speaker that he does not intend to compromise Parliament’s security.
Apologising unconditionally, Mann said he filmed the said video while he was on his way to Parliament to attend Zero Hour. “I didn’t know that filming a video was against rules,” he added.
Mann’s action violates 334(A) (prohibiting advance publicity) and 352 (inter alia video/tape recording) .
