Just a week after the execution Yakub Memon, lone death row convict in the Mumbai Blast case, Supreme Court Justice Dipak Misra who handed down death penalty to Yukub, has received an anonymous letter threatening his life at his residence in Tuglak Road.
Reacting swiftly to the matter, security has been beefed up around Misra’s residence after a case was registered at Tughalak Road police station.
The letter warned that Justice Misra will be targeted even if his security is tightened. Delhi Police also beefed up the security of Justice Dipak Misra.
Supreme Court had on July 29 unanimously rejected Yakub Memon’s petition seeking stay of his execution.
Yakub, the brother of prime Tiger Memon, 11 others were sentenced to death by a special TADA court in July 2007 for the 1993 Mumbai attack that killed 257 people and leaving around 700 injured.
