As the Supreme Court from May 11 is going to hold daily sittings on the matter of Triple Talaq, Salman Khurshid has been allowed to assist as an amicus curiae in the hearing of the pleas.

The Apex court agreed to Khurshid’s request to assist in the case of triple talaq.

A bench comprising Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justices S K Kaul and D Y Chandrachud allowed Khurshid to file his written submissions in the case.

“We will take it on record. It’s not an issue,” the bench said.

Amicus Curiae, the latin word for ‘friend of the court’ is a person or group who is not a party to a lawsuit, but has a strong interest in the matter, will petition the court for permission to submit a brief in the action with the intent of influencing the court’s decision.
