BJP leader Sakshi Maharaj on Friday rattled out at Asaduddin Owaisi’s defence of Yakub Memon and said that those who do not respect judiciary can go to Pakistan. “People who can’t respect Indian system and judiciary can go to Pakistan, door is open,” Sakshi Maharaj said reacting to Asaduddin Owaisi’s comments on the death sentence awarded to the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts convict.
Asaduddin Owaisi has decried the capital punishment awarded to Yakub Memon. Owaisi on Thursday alleged that Yakub Memon is only being hung to death because he belongs to a certain religion and he also asserted that the miscreants in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination were only sentenced to life imprisonment.
Quoting a senior journalist, Owaisi questioned why Memon should be hanged when he “proved” the involvement of Pakistan in the 1993 Mumbai serial bombings which left 257 people dead and more than 700 wounded.
BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain was also found saying that Owaisi was needlessly politicising the verdict of the Yakub Memon case and he said that the judiciary does not see the religion of the culprit when it serves justice.
