Sachin,-Sourav1Cricket maestros Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman on 1 June were appointed to the newly-constituted advisory committee by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI),

BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur took to micro-blogging site twitter to announce the the induction of the three greats of Indian cricket, a move which was on cards for some time.

“I welcome & thank @sachin_rt Saurav Ganguly @VVSLaxman281 fr joining @BCCI.Privileged to hv yur guidance & support,as we start a new inning!,” BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur tweeted.

Apart from giving advice on the domestic cricket scenario, the legends also suggest on the decision on the appointment of the new cricket coach after Duncan Fletcher.
They will also co-ordinate between the team and the board.

It has been learnt from reliable sources that Thakur and president Jagmohan Dalmiya will consult with the panel on all major cricketing decisions.

According to BCCI sources, the Indian cricketers can seek technical advise from the trio and the Board wants batsmen to specifically speak to Tendulkar before any international assignment.

Thakur will be talking to Tendulkar, Laxman and Ganguly on 1 June to discuss details. The trio is expected to advise on selection of coaches and other matters for the development of cricket. Interestingly, former Test captain Anil Kumble is heading BCCI’s technical committee.

Ganguly may be consulted to prepare a blueprint for the team’s success overseas, while Laxman may work on the bench strength and the new talent coming in.

Meanwhile, it is not clear if Ganguly will accompany the Indian Team on their upcoming tour of Bangladesh. The team flies out to Dhaka from Kolkata on June 7. The first Test starts June 10. Also, there is a question mark on Ravi Shastri’s role.

Speculation is rife whether Ganguly would be high performance manager, team director or Team India’s chief coach.
