Panchajanya, a magazine associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) alleged that the prestigious Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU) is a home for anti-national activities. It claims that JNU is an anti-national blockade which aims to disintegrate India.
RSS condemned JNU, by featuring the cover article in their magazine, saying that , the University’s Anti-Naxal students celebrated the killing of 75 security personnel in an ambush in 2010, in Chattisgarh. They have accused JNU of providing legitimacy to anti-national forces.
The magazines alleges that, JNU, is an institute where believing in nationalism is an offence, as the institute put out an article which stated that the university supports the removal of the army from Kashmir, a statement, that according to the RSS is anti-national. Furthermore, it condemned JNU for presenting the Indian culture in a distorted light. The magazine also said that JNU’s tendency to rely on hte state is nothing but an example of capitalism masquerading as socialism, as well as Maoism.
The article further says that, “These tendencies are inspired by two things, bitterness for Hindus and an urge to break India. These things became possible due to two historical reasons. The first was the desire of Nehru and his successors to impose state-run model of economy on India and two, Nehru’s proximity to the Soviet block. But when the Soviety block disintegrated, a new political thought emerged in institutions like JNU which started changing their political slogan from class struggle to caste struggle.”
