Red alert in Pathankot: Punjab Police conduct searches for suspicious men

A red alert was sounded in Pathankot following inputs about suspicious movement of armed men in army fatigues. The Punjab Police launched a massive search operation near the army base area located along the Pathankot-Dalhousie road.

As many as 400 personnel, including a SWAT team and three SP-rank officers, took part in the operation. Also, a night-long search operation was conducted in Pathankot by security agencies to look for some armed men, the police said on September 28.

“We carried out a search operation around Chakki river bank and nearby forest area. However, nothing has been found so far. The search operation began on September 27 and conducted throughout the night, said Pathankot district police chief Rakesh Kaushal,” according to media reports

The Himachal Pradesh Police were also alerted about the movement of suspicious persons and they also conducted their own searches.
