The Indian Premier League was the platform that brought cricket and Bollywood together. Both are twin passions in India. Both enjoy mass hysteria. And with the ICC cricket World Cup 2015 in Australia and New Zealand scheduled to start very soon, Indian fans would get a chance to hear from the commentary box a surprise voice — the deep baritone of the iconic Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan.
Yes, indeed. The legendary actor will be making his debut as a commentator during India’s high profile match against arch-rivals Pakistan to be held on February 15, along with seasoned Harsha Bhogle, Indian cricket legend Kapil Dev and Pakistani speedster the ‘Rawalpindi Express’ Shoaib Akhtar.
Star sports and the makers of Amitabh Bachchan’s forthcoming starrer ‘Shamitabh’ have come up with this unique concept to promote the film. The film incidentally revolves around baritone and with Big B donning the commentator role, the film makers are keen to showcase Big B’s baritone before the film’s scheduled release. Amitabh is happy to add another feather to his cap and the promo is already out which features former India and 1983 world cup winning skipper Kapil Dev and former Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar.
Talking about his experience, Amitabh says : “This country’s emotions are ruled by two things cricket and cinema. For me, it’s an exciting time on both fronts. My movie is releasing on February 6 and then, I have the privilege of making my commentary debut.”
