The Upper House has been adjourned twice in the post-lunch session amidst din by opposition members over the Dalit issue, as well as CBI raids on Delhi Secretariat, including chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s office.
They said that, sealing a chief minister’s office was against the tenets of democracy.
Replying to questions raised by opposition members on thje said CBI raids, Union minister Arun Jaitley said, “The raids have nothing to do with Kejriwal, but the principal secretary only who is alleged to be embroiled in corruption. The CBI sleuths were not going through Kejriwal’s files at all. I do not know what has made the opposition members think otherwise.
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party has issued a whip, asking all its MPs to be present in House for the remainder of the winter session. Addressing the House, Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that, all BJP MPs would contribute Rs 10,000 each for Chennai flood relief.
He said that, the government and BJP will launch various programs for youth empowerment on Swami Vivekananda’s Jayanti, on January 12, next year. He said that the party and the government will celebrate former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birthday on December 25 as Good Governance Day.
