A tenant verification form submitted to Indirapuram police station for police verification by the house owner showed ‘the prospective tenant as Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, a servant residing in New Delhi’.
The shocker comes a day after the West Bengal MLAs signed a Rs 100-stamp paper to swear their allegiance to the Gandhis.
Arun Kumar Sharma, the house owner, mentioned the name of Congress Vice-President in the verification form which also carried a photograph of Rahul Gandhi.
What’s more, the form clearly shows the approving stamp of the Indirapuram police station.
When TEHELKA called up Senior Superintendent of Police, Ghaziabad, KS Emanuel for comments, he was out of station. When SP Salman Taj was called, an official Mahir Hussain Zaidi said “It is fake. It was done to make fun of the Congress VP by a mischief monger. The police have not done it.”
But such a glaring mistake by the police raises questions over its functioning. The incident came to light when the form was shared on social networking sites.
