The All India Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, made a visit to Faridkot, on 5 November, to meet the families of victims who lost their lives in the police firing.
Rahul arrived in Kotkapura town, earlier in the day, and visited the house of police firing victim Gurjit Singh, in Sarawan village first. He spent over 20 minutes with the victim’s family. He told a family that he would meet the President to ensure justice, by demanding a probe into the incident by an apex court judge.
Punjab Congress President Pratap Singh Bajwa, former chief minister and deputy leader of the Congress in Lok Sabha Amarinder Singh, Punjab Congress legislature party leader Sunil Jakhar, Indian Youth Congress President Amrinder Singh Raja Warring and former chief minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, accompanied the Congress vice president on his visit to Faridkot.
In his padyatra, he criticized the ruling government for the plight of the farmers in the state and raised concern over the problem of drug addiction in the state.
He met the families of the two men who were killed in the police firing in Behbal Kalan village, last month, during protests by Sikh activists.
