Congress Vice President, Rahul Gandhi, on Thursday, commenced his two day visit to Rajasthan. The Congress scion, after being welcomed by party workers and leaders, addressed a jansabha (public meeting) in Sri Ganganagar district, in Suratgarh town.
In his Khotawali address, Gandhi, taking a jibe at the recent Lalit Modi scandal, which has brought Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje under fire for her alleged assistance to controversy king Lalit Modi, mocked Prime Minister Modi’s pre-poll promise of a corruption-free India.
Rahul Gandhi’s visit assumes significance in light of the civic body polls, scheduled next month, and the spate of controversies involving BJP leaders including the Rajasthan CM Raje.
Afterwards, he will begin his ‘padyatra’ from Kenchian of Khotawali village, on the Hanumangarh-Padampur road. The ‘padyatra’ is likely to cover a distance of 5 km.
Gandhi will then interact with people from Amarsinghwala village.
Sachin Pilot informed the media about the party conference to be held at Birla Auditorium, on July 17, where Gandhi will address party functionaries.
