Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a meeting Kannauj, launched a scathing attack on Samajwadi Party-Congress combine, when he asked Akhilesh how could he ally with Congress which tried to murder his father Mulayam Singh Yadav in March 1984? It is unfortunate.
Accusing the Akhilesh government of being anti-poor, PM Modi said, “The state government is sleeping. It is not utilising the funds for feeding poor in orphanages.” Despite the constant flow of central funds, the government failed in universalising food.”
Reminding the people that the Kannauj MP—Dimple Yadav, wife of Akhilesh—had promised a potato factory during the last polls, the PM asked them, “Won’t you question the MP now?”
It may be recalled it was former PM Indira Gandhi who had last addressed a political meeting in Kannauj’s Gursahaiganj in 1971 ahead of the polls.
Taking a dig at Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi, Modi said, “He does not know whether potatoes are produced in a factory or on farmland.”
Promising to waive off farm loans if the BJP formed a government in UP, he said, “I will ensure that the said promise would be fulfilled in the government’s first cabinet meeting.” It was surprising 50 per cent of schools had no teachers, he added.
He also told the gathering that he would lower the price of coronary stents to be used for heart patients. Stating that the Congress failed to lower the prices, he said the price of stents will be brought down to Rs 8,000 from Rs 45,000.
While this was so, the PM said that onion and potato will be made available at Minimum Support Price. There will be no shortage or any problems whatsoever, he added.
