Pinarayi Vijayan will take the oath as chief minster of Kerala on 25 May. The new CPI(M) Left Democratic Front (LDF) government will be sworn in at Central stadium, Thiruvananthapuram at 4pm.

CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury and Politburo member Prakash Karat are likely to attend the oath-taking ceremony.

The first Cabinet meeting will take place at 6.30pm. He would meet the Governor of Kerala with the list of ministers to be sworn in once it is ready.

The LDF government will not enforce a total ban on alcohol although it will not promote its consumption. While speaking to ET, he said that “We do not want to spoil Centre-state relations. There are many grey areas, which we want to discuss with the Centre.”

Speaking to the media, Pinarayi said the new government would work for the benefit of the people. “We will function without caste, religious and political barriers.” he said.
