While acting on the intelligence inputs, the security forces on January 15, initiated a search operation during which it killed three Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists near Pahalgam in Jammu & Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
The encounter started on January 15 and continued till the morning of January 16 during which the forces chased terrorists in a house in south Kashmir’s Awoora village in Pahalgam area.
“An operation against the militants resumed on Monday morning after it was suspended on Sunday evening,” a senior police officer said.
Three AK-47 rifles have been recovered from the encounter site and the operation was called off on Monday, he added.
The police official said the security forces were conducting a search operation based on a specific intelligence input of the presence of militants in the village.
While the search operation was going on, the militants opened fired upon them to which the security forces retaliated and the gun battle continued.
The bodies of the terrorists were taken out from the village on Monday morning.
