Minister of State for External Affairs General V K Singh tweeted “disgusted” after attending Pakistan’s National Day celebrations. The former army chief attended the celebrations, where several Kashmiri separatist leaders including Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Yaseen Malik were also present. Congress senior leader Mani Shankar Aiyar was also attended the Pakistani envoy dinner.

V.K. Singh did not interact with several Hurriyat leaders including Syed Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Omar Farooq who were present for the Pakistan National Day reception function in New Delhi.  Mr. Singh later tweeted with hastags on duty and disgust in a series of tweets: “#Duty A job or service allocated” and added “#Disgust To sicken or fill with loathing.” He also said while it was “#Duty A task or action that a person is bound to perform for moral or legal reasons”, it was “#Disgust To offend the moral sense, principles or taste of..”

Criticizing the tweets and the former army chief presence in the celebration, Congress leader Manish Tewari tweeted that if Singh is so disgusted with double standards of his own government on Pakistan, he should quit. The opposition leader tweeted, “If Mr#duty#Disgust is so disgusted with double standards of his govt on Pak he should quit? Other Min in past refused to attend PAK EVENTS!”
