On Twitter Virat Kohli more popular than Sachin Tendulkar




The flamboyant Delhi batsman  and the  vice-captain of Team India, Virat Kohli,   has added another feather in his cap. This time on the social networking site. The Delhi dasher has now  overtaken Indian cricket icon  Sachin Tendulkar as the most followed sportsperson on Twitter though the iconic cricketer still holds the number two spot a year after his retirement. Kohli’s popularity is on the ascent given batting exploits , where he is touted as the best young batsman in world cricket today. Off- the field too, Virat has hogged the limelight  for his steady romance with Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, whom he has admitted to be dating .

Kohli (@imVkohli) heads the list with a total base of 4,870,190 fans, which is higher than Tendulkar’s (@sachin_rt) 4,869,849 fans. The retired batting great Tendulkar, until recently, was holding the numero uno position in the social networking site. “Here’s the 4 million follower selfie. Hope you like it :),”  Kohli, currently in Australia for the four-match Test series, had written on his twitter handle after crossing the 4 lakh mark in October.

Tendulkar is followed by current cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (@msdhoni) with 3,327,033 followers. MSD is  followed by former India and opener Virender Sehwag  (3180081), ICC 2011 World Cup Man of the tournament Yuvraj Singh (2723090), and his India  and Chennai Super Kings team-mate Suresh Raina (2617828).
