Scripting history at the forecourt of Rajasthan Bhawan, Narendra Modi was sworn in as India’s Prime Minister on the evening of 26th May 2014 following a historic mandate from the people of India. Modi’s leadership stands for a dynamic, decisive and development-oriented vision of India, emerging as a ray of hope for the dreams and aspirations of a billion Indians. His focus on development, eye for detail and efforts to bring a qualitative difference in the lives of the poorest of poor makes Modi a popular and respected leader across the nation.
In a proud moment, US President Barack Obama has penned a profile of Modi, titled “India’s reformer-in-chief”, for TIME magazine, taking his warm friendship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi a step ahead.
Obama writes that Modi’s life-story—his rise from poverty to become India’s Prime Minister—is symbolic of the country’s dynamism and potential. “As a boy, Narendra Modi helped his father sell tea to support their family. Today, he’s the leader of the world’s largest democracy.”
“Determined to help more Indians follow his path, he laid out an ambitious vision to reduce extreme poverty, improve education, empower women and girls and unleash India’s true economic potential while confronting climate change.
Like India, he transcends the ancient and the modern a devotee of yoga who connects the Indian citizens on Twitter and imagines a ‘digital India’,” the US President wrote.
Recalling the Indian Prime Minister’s visit to Washington, Obama writes: “Narendra and I visited the memorial to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We reflected on the teachings of King and Gandhi and how the diversity of backgrounds and faiths in our countries is strength we have to protect.” He further adds that Modi recognized the image of a billion Indians living and succeeding together could translate into a model for the entire world.
It is necessary to motivate the nation that has been subsumed by self-flagellation for long. That’s precisely what Modi is doing today.
Narendra Modi’s life has been a journey of courage, compassion and constant hard work. At a very young age he had decided to devote his life in service of the people. He displayed his skills as a grass-root level worker, an organizer and an administrator during his 13 years’ long stint as the Chief Minister of his home state Gujarat, where he ushered in a paradigm shift towards pro-people and pro-active good governance.
His performance is reflected in the several Awards his government received from both national and international media. Shri Narendra Modi as India’s Prime Minister brings with him a rich and hands-on-experience as one of India’s most successful Chief Ministers besides being one of its finest of administrators. Thank you PM Narendra Modi for instilling the confidence in us and making us feel proud as Indians. India is in very safe hands. Jai Hind!
