Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the 41st Annual Leadership Summit in Washington DC, according to the US-India Business Council. The dinner will bring together 400 CEOs, businessmen and investors.
Top business and government leaders will also engage in a debate over the deeping US-India commercial and strategic ties at the event, which will be addressed by Modi on 7 June. This event will be held ahead of his address to the joint session of the US Congress.
As part of the USIBC summit, Modi will also take part in a roundtable with top global CEOs. “It’s a privilege to welcome Modi, particularly in the view of betterment of ties between the two countries.
Last year, India fueled by Modi’s ability to lure foreign investment, attracted $63 billion to build a globally competitive environment in India,” said USIBC president Dr Mukesh Aghi.
Also, the Prime Minister will address the joint session of the US Congress on 7 June. The details ODF Modi’s visit to US have, however, not been finalised.
“The US-India bilateral ties matured over the last few years. The USIBC’s summit not only honours various aspects of bilateral ties, but also celebrates people-to-people ties,” added Dr Aghi.
In keeping with the annual award tradition, this year’s honorees for the USIBC Global Leadership Award are Amazon Founder and CEO Jeff Bezos, and Founder and MD of Sun Pharmaceuticals Dilip Shanghvi.
“We couldn’t think of more qualified icons to be presenting the 2016 Global Leadership Award to them,” he added.
Last year, the council’s 40th Annual Leadership Summit kicked off the US-India Strategic and Commercial Dialogue and hosted US Vice President Joe Biden, US Secretary of State John Kerry; US Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker, Union commerce minister Nirmala Sitaraman, MoS for Power, Coal and New and Renewable Energy Piyush Goyal, among others.
