Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a mammoth crowd of Indian Americans at the Sap Center in San Jose, California on 28 September.

The PM’s address was a repeat of the Madison Square Garden moment, last year. He began by invoking the birth anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and asked the enthusiastic audience to say “Amar Rahe” twice in the martyr’s honour.

Wooing the Non-Residents Indians, he said that he could experience the vibrancy of India in California. Continuing in the same strain, he could see people in the audience with dreams in their eyes and determination to fulfil them.

Later, the Prime Minister announced the launch of an Air India flight from Delhi to San Francisco thrice per week.

To a thundering roar of approval from 18,000 NRIs, he said that the world was looking towards India for leadership, even in the field of digitial wave. Things have reached such a state that every nation wants to be associated with us. Technological innovation has helped people from all spheres of life. So my focus is now on Digital India Initiative.”

Changing the subject subtly, he said that those who have faith in the government would take Indians to greater heights; this I have said all along. Those Indians who stay away from their motherland have a better perspective.

But at the same time, I say that, “It is time to turn brain drain into brain gain.”

“You have seen from the last 16 months have I worked for the benefit of the people. I spend every minute of my life for the development of the country.”

Listing his achievements, he said, “When I took charge, half of the population has not entered banks. We started a scheme under which 1.80 crore bank accounts were opened jn 100 days something that was not done in 40 years.

“All rating agencies across the world have rated India as the fastest growing country.  People had convinced that BRICS cannot survive without India,” he said.

“If earlier India was known for Upanishads and Puranas, now it is known for satellites. Our Mars Orbiter Mission is a success across the world,” said Modi to thunderous applause.
