Combing operations are underway for the terrorists. The Mumbai Police, naval commandos, Central Industrial Security Force, NSG commandos and Maharashtra’s specialised counter-terror force are taking part in the search operations. They have tightened security at Mumbai airport, Gateway of India, Hotel Taj Mahal Palace and Siddhivinayak temple.
This apart, NSG forces have been deployed at three locations in Mumbai, while another team has been stationed in New Delhi to be flown in immediately in case of an emergency.
The region is highly sensitive especially with the Western Naval Command HQ, the naval harbour, the Mumbai Port Trust, the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, ONGC oil terminal among others within a stone’s reach.
At the same time, with the news spreading like wildfire all schools in Uran and nearby areas have declared holidays for two days.
While this was so, Gujarat has also been put on security alert. As per media reports, the Superintendents of Police of coastal districts of the state have been asked to monitor the situation
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is on his way back to Mumbai after a US tour. In a statement, the officials of the CMO said they have spoken with the state DGP. Appealing to the people to stay calm, the CMO said all precautions are being taken.
