After Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu was suspended from the primary membership of the Peoples’ Party of Arunachal Pradesh (PPA), its president Kahfa Bengia on December 30 said Takam Pario might replace Khandu.
Pario, the richest MLA in the state with declared assets of Rs 187 crore, was likely to be announced as the CM and PPA leader in the Assembly.
Khandu, Deputy CM Chowna Mein and five other MLAs were suspended from primary membership for indiscipline and alleged anti-party activities.
It was learnt that Khandu is considering a legal response to his suspension.
It may be noted Khandu had become the CM in July after leaving the Congress along with 42 other MLAs to join the PPA in September.
The PPA is a constituent of the BJP-led-North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA). Pario had as a served as the Public Health Engineering Department Minister in the Pema Khandu government. By likely to replace Khandu as the CM, Pario marks a new chapter in the turbulent state.
