The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change announced Post-Doctoral Research Fellowships in memory of Late Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam on his 85th birth anniversary which was celebrated recently.
Through the fellowship, the Ministry is targeting young scientists with a good academic record who have completed or are about to complete their doctoral studies in areas related to environment and ecology. The age limit of the applicants has been set at 35 years. The fellowship that will be awarded for a three-year-period includes a monthly fellowship and an annual research contingency grant of Rs. 1.5 lakh.
A committee of experts headed by Dr. R.A Mashelkar will be set up to select eligible candidates for the fellowship. The ministry will upload applications for the fellowship and guidelines for the same, on its official website.
Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, fondly known as the ‘People’s President’, had immense faith in the abilities of the youth to transform India into a global power.
He was also firmly convinced that science and technology can offer solutions for the pressing challenges facing the country, including those of environmental protection and sustainable development.
