Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s greetings on the occasion of 94th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party’s establishment to Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang has gone viral in that country.
Modi apparently sent the “Happy Birthday” greeting on 1 July, and according to deputy editor-in-chief of China Daily Wang Hao, it was re-tweeted across China within hours.
The China Daily is the lone English language newspaper in the country.
The message from Modi read, “Prime Minister (Li Keqiang), I wish you a happy birthday and a long life and I recall with fondness our meeting in May,” which evoked 1,800 comments.
The Communist party in China was set up in 1921, and the country has made several plans to celebrate the party’s 100 anniversary due in six years. Twitter is banned in China and its local equivalent is the most popular way of sharing news in the country.
