Milind Soman, model and actor contested in the “toughest” triathlon in zurich, where he proved to be fit as a fiddle. Soman, who is going to turn 50 this November, has proven himself to be as agile and active as any youngster. The veteran supermodel, part of an Indian team of seven, led by Pune’s Dr. Radkar, who incidentally, won the title for the 12th time.
The triathlon, organised by World Triathlon Corporation, includes a 3.8-km swim, 180.2-km cycle ride and 42.2-km run and is universally regarded as the world’s toughest race, that has to be completed in 16 hours by participants in order to be conferred the ‘Ironman’ title.
“The challenge was to complete the cycling segment in less than eight hours since it is a new activity for me and there was a cut-off time to adhere to. The swim in Lake Zurich was great and the 42-km run is something that I have been doing for years,” Soman said.
