The train’s front portion, including the engine and eight coaches, have been been moved to the next station and the rear coaches to Phillor. Traffic on both sides of the track was blocked. Trains were cancelled and diverted.
Meanwhile, the Indian Railways is making arrangements so that passengers could continue their journey.
The train went off the tracks while it was proceeding to Pune. As per media reports, rescue operations were underway. Senior officials, medical and relief teams have reached the site and rescue operation was underway.
Jalandhar-New Delhi Intercity, Amritsar-New Delhi Intercity, Amritsar-Haridwar Janshatabdi and Amritsar-Chandigarh Superfast have been cancelled.
