Bihar is once again in midst of political uncertainty. The crisis is set to take a new turn when JD (U) leader and former CM Nitish Kumar is likely to stake a claim to form government in Bihar again. According to media reports, Nitish is also likely to hold a meeting with the senior party leaders in the state capital to discuss the political situation.
Meanwhile, an embattled Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Manjhi, who will be in New Delhi to attend the NITI Aayog meeting, had sought time to meet Modi the moment he arrives at the capital.
The meeting is scheduled to take place a day after Nitish was re-elected as the legislature party leader by 97 out of 115 MLAs of the party. Manjhi in his meeting with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to discuss the Janata Dal United crisis and demand special status for the state.
The political situation in the state has become very unstable ever since 97 JDU MLAs have unanimously elected Nitish Kumar as the Leader of the House. Without much support from his own party, the options before Manjhi are limited and he is likely to resign soon. Manjhi is hopeful of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s support in case he chooses to stay on as the Chief Minister.
