Mamata emerges victorious in Bhawanipore as TMC wins 67 seats

After securing the massive mandate, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee appealed for peace and asked the opposition to learn from this experience.

Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee has won from Bhawanipore by a huge margin of 25,301 votes. Finance and industry minister Amit Mitra retained Khardaha seat by defeating CPI(M)’s Asim Kumar Dasgupta by 21,200 votes.

According to available trends, the TMC has won 67 seats and is ahead in 145 others.

While this was so, CPI national secretary D Raja said that Left parties need to sharpen their strategy and do some serious introspection.

Speaking to NDTV, described herself as an ‘LIP’ or Less Important Person when she was asked whether she saw herself as a prime ministerial candidate in 2019.

“I am a commoner, an LIP… I like to work with people. I am not greedy. If you call me the chief minister, I will not be happy. If you call me Mamata Di, I will be happy,” she said.

“I have so many friends I can work with such as Chandrababu Naidu, Arvind Kejriwal, Nitish Kumar, Jayalalithaa, Mayawati…” she said. Attacking BJP, she said, “I am against BJP’s ideology because they like to divide and rule.”
